In the stadium setting, James turns club tracks like “Big Time” and “Give It To Me Baby” into sweaty, unhinged singalongs. Can't imagine anyone not digging most of these tracks. Having the bonus disc of live stuff is even cooler. It was released on the Reprise Records label. This is some of the best dance music ever waxed and although his career did not have the longevity everyone expected due to a multitude of personal problems, Rick James for one year, ruled the pop world. I've somehow always slept on Rick James and his music , but picked up the vinyl for Street Songs recently and love it. He eventually found his calling in the field of funk and soul. If you like early 80's pop funk R&B (ala Prince's Dirty Mind/Controversy period) I'd say this is a very safe buy. This album was easily one of the better and funkiest albums of the 1981-1982 music release season. The funk numbers like "Ghetto Life" and "Super Freak", coupled with tender lover staples like "Fire & Desire" makes this LP a must have. This cd contains two bonus tracks that are extended dance mixes of his big hits "Superfreak" and "Give It To Me". My mam, she has a pair like them, but she never ever wears them. Recommended.
