American cinema has been churning out slacker movies for what seems like eons, so it's refreshing to report that Somebody Up There Likes Me enlivens the genre with a welcome breath of imagination, wit and charm. Mike Figgis  – musical documentary, which sets an intimate portrait film about the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood as a musician, artist.

I decided to jump in and we began talking, the first of a really interesting series of conversations.

While I found the film cute at times, the pervading apathy of Somebody Up There Likes Me left me feeling a little disconnected.

File under mumblestick, perhaps? “Who would have thought that a lad from Hillingdon would be able to combine all his hobbies and convert them into such diverse careers,” says Wood.
